What an amazing weekend with excellent instruction from K9 Behavior Consortium!
“Everyone wants the sexy dog”
How do you obtain that? Foundations…and we are not talking about your dog’s foundations; we are talking about YOUR foundations as a handler.
Are you one with your lead? Can you do the waltz with your dog just by using your lead?
How can you communicate clearly with your dog if you are tangled up in the lead or wrapping it around your dog? To be an effective handler, you must have the foundation in place to lead your canine on a search. Holding the lead correctly, using your body to give direction, applying the appropriate lead pressure without line checking your canine and move fluently with our canine with smooth footwork as if you are waltzing with your partner. All of this gives your canine the freedom to search without the frustration of your interference. You become more in tune with your canine’s next move and gives your canine the independence to search. And damn, that confidence looks sexy!
When you come to West Virginia for one of our KBC workshops, you are treated with hospitality and positivity! This weekend we had a taco bar and sandwich bar for lunch and for dessert we want to thank Casey Graham for the cookies!
We want to thank the following for the swag baskets for our participants and instructors:
Kinetic Dog Food, Peachy Treats (for yummy dog treats),
Adventure Lights (to keep our K9s safe)
WV Lottery (yes, you had a chance to win $)
Minus 33 (for the beanies)
Nylabone
and of course, our favorite K9 accessory provider, Titan Ultra K9, for the new leads!
We also want to recognize Sam’s Club, Walmart and Piggly Wiggly for supporting us by providing gift certificates to purchase food to feed our hungry crew all weekend!
